Principal's Message

Welcome to MLHMS!

Our entire staff is excited to welcome you to Margaret L. Hopkin Middle School. Our excellent staff is committed to providing a safe and quality education for all our students.

As the principal, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Kari Barnard, and I have been working at the middle school for the past eight years. Previously, I worked for BEACON, taught Creative Writing, and I taught 7th-grade English. The 2023 - 2024 school year will be my first year as a principal, and I am very excited! I can't wait to see our students - both new and old!

As we begin this new year, please continue to check our website and Facebook page for updates as we go throughout the year. We appreciate your support, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

Mission

Our mission is to develop life-long learners capable of achieving their greatest academic and social potential, and an awareness of their place and responsibility in school, and the larger global community. This will be accomplished through the cooperative efforts of staff, students, parents, and community, in an environment of security, success, pride, and respect for all members of our school community.

Remember, with LunchTime - you will need to create a new account, but you only need to fill out ONE application per family. And for our families who are more comfortable with Spanish - the application is available in Spanish as well!

Safety Update: Bear Activity Near High School & Middle School Campuses

Please be aware that a bear has been spotted in the area near both the middle school and high school campuses. Local law enforcement and wildlife officials are on site and actively managing the situation to ensure everyone remains safe. Students and staff are secure inside our buildings. The high school is currently on a "Hold" order. This situation may impact afternoon pickup procedures, so please monitor your email and official school communication channels for further updates as we receive more details from officials. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our school community.
